Yogyakarta, July 17th, 2024 – The Center for Southeast Asian Social Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada (CESASS UGM), Indonesia, proudly announces the successful conclusion of the 2024 Summer Course Program on “Smart City, Digital Transformation, and Society in Southeast Asia.” The event, supported by the Direktorat Kemitraan dan Relasi Global (DKRG) UGM, has been a premier educational platform fostering knowledge exchange and multidisciplinary collaboration to address the region’s unique challenges and opportunities.
The “Smart City, Digital Transformation, and Society in Southeast Asia” summer course program was designed to meet its objectives by offering a cross-disciplinary curriculum emphasizing smart cities’ sustainable development and digital transformation. It provides participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills pertinent to the Southeast Asian context.
Furthermore, the program fosters the development of international networks in information and communication technology and social and cultural studies, facilitating collaborative learning and research that can lead to valuable academic publications and innovative solutions for the region.
The program hosted 22 international speakers and 60 participants from 15 countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar, USA, Japan, Romania, Nigeria, Nepal, Ecuador, Mexico, Salvador, India, and Guyana.
After 17 days of the program, CESASS UGM extends its heartfelt gratitude to all participants, lecturers, and supporters for making the 2024 Summer Course Program a resounding success. We look forward to continuing our mission of fostering knowledge exchange and addressing the region’s unique challenges through future programs and initiatives.
