Center for Southeast Asian Social Studies had the honor of welcoming Michaela Haug, Professor at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Freiburg, Germany. Prof. Haug is an established scholar in social and cultural anthropology whose research focuses on political anthropology, social movements, and processes of state formation and transformation, particularly in Southeast Asia. Her extensive fieldwork and publications have contributed significantly to discussions on governance, citizenship, and local political dynamics in the region. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange insights on current research in social and cultural anthropology, particularly in relation to Southeast Asia, while also opening avenues for potential academic collaboration, joint research initiatives, and future scholarly engagement between the two institutions.
