In today’s digital era, the role of local government, especially in public-related channels, is very significant for managing and disseminating information. With attention to the public relations role in local government, CESASS held a Public Relations & Information Management Training held from 7 June 2017 to 9 June 2017 at CESASS. The training was attended by twelve participants who are public relations tools from various regions in Indonesia, such as Aceh Tamiang, North Kalimantan, Berau, Sukabumi, D.I.Yogyakarta, and Central Java.
In the opening ceremony which took place on Wednesday (07/06/2017), Director of CESASS, Dr. phil. Hermin Indah Wahyuni, explained the purpose of this training that can improve the quality of public relations management and information management of local government. Training participants were also expected to gain an increase in competency in policy making in the field of public relations and information management area. In addition, this training became a form of synergy between Universitas Gadjah Mada as a university with local government.
The field of public relations and information management becomes increasingly important with the development of information and communication technology. In this training, participants received materials on public relations and public communication at Local Government level, research methods, and digital developments such as social media analysis.
Although it lasted during fasting, this did not dampen the enthusiasm of participants and presenters in undergoing session activities. As stated by Cut Nanda Nofrita, a trainee from the Aceh Tamiang District Government.
“The material presented is very interesting, in accordance with what we have faced in the field so far. The speaker mastered the material so that the discussion session went smoothly, “said Cut Nanda.
The same was recognized by Syafrida Risna who was also from the Aceh Tamiang District Government. “Especially the material on media handling is very important for us to be in contact with the media frequently. With this training we become more understand and gain insight, “she added. (Varrel)
