Yogyakarta, 21 August 2024 – Center for Southeast Asian Social Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada (CESASS UGM) successfully conducted a Technology-Based Community Service Program as part of the 2024 fiscal year initiatives, under the theme “Penguatan UMKM melalui Digital Branding, Digital Marketing, dan Literasi Digital Masyarakat untuk Menunjang Pola Wisata Pergi-Pulang Sehari (Excursionist) dan MICE (Meeting-Incentive-Convention-Exhibition) di Kalurahan Sidoarum” The program was organized by the Center for Southeast Asian Social Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada (CESASS UGM), with support from Directorate of Community Service Universitas Gadjah Mada, the Faculty of Geography UGM, and the Sidoarum Village government.
The program was led by Prof. Dr. Rini Rachmawati, S.Si., M.T., who also served as the keynote speaker. Dr. Wing Wahyu Winarno and training assistant Kuindra Iriyanta also contributed as speakers in the event.
Sidoarum Village Head, Hety Pujiastutik, S.H., participated as the community partner in this initiative. The training targeted 20 MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) owners in Sidoarum Village, aiming to enhance their skills and understanding of digital branding, digital marketing, and digital literacy. By utilizing social media, e-commerce platforms, and websites, the program seeks to empower MSMEs in promoting and selling their products more effectively.
This initiative is expected to significantly boost the local economy by providing MSMEs with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the digital age, especially in supporting the growing trends of Excursionist and MICE tourism in the region.
It’s related to SDGs 8 (Decent work and economic growth), 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
