CESASS UGM Welcomes NCCU Students and Opens SEA-GATE 2023

On Monday (10/07/2023), Center for Southeast Asian Social Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada (CESASS UGM) welcomed 24 students from National Cheng Chi University (NCCU), Taiwan, as well as opened Southeast Asian Culture and Language Training Program (SEA-GATE) 2023.

On behalf of CESASS director Prof. Dr. Rini Rachmawati, S.Si., M.T., Drs. Muhadi Sugiono, M.A. welcomed and officially opened NCCU SEA-GATE Program 2023 (10—24 July 2023). “In Indonesia, you can talk to everyone, they will love it, especially when they meet foreigners who can speak Indonesian. Please use this opportunity to improve your cultural understanding about Indonesia as well as your language skills”, he said.

Accompanied by Dr. phil. Vissia Ita Yulianto (CESASS researcher & NCCU exchanged Assoc. Professor), the opening speech from SEALC, NCCU was represented by Silvia Rehulina Ginting, Ph.D. “I am sure that these students will learn many things from this program, especially since many of them are having the opportunity to visit Indonesia for the first time,” said Silvia, Ph.D. 

SEA-GATE program manager, Nur’aini Wahyuningsih, S.S., M.A.; teacher representatives, Andhika Djalu Sembada, M.Phil. and Bonifasius Endo Gauh Perdana, M.A.; research manager, Nurina Aulia Haris, M.A.; and staff attended the meeting.

Without further ado, students activities were kicked off with the first class of SEA-GATE NCCU 2023: Speaking and Listening for Beginner class and Reading for Intermediate class.
